The Hong Kong Alliance together with Lee Cheuk-yan, Ho Chun-yan, and Chow Hang-tung were found guilty of the offence of "incitement to subversion" under our Hong Kong National Security Law, the latest verdict handed down by the Hong Kong Court indeed upheld the rule of law and safeguarded our national security.

The DAB is strenuously opposed to, and strongly condemns, the slanders and defamation of Hong Kong's rule of law and freedom by the US government and its politicians following the verdict.

The ruling and core leadership role of the Communist Party of China is clearly enshrined in the Constitution of The People's Republic of China. However, the Hong Kong Alliance called for the overthrow of the Chinese regime and the fundamental system established by the Constitution, endangering the constitutional order of the nation. Even after the Hong Kong National Security Law had came into effect, the Hong Kong Alliance continued to spread hatred and incite subversion of state power through various means under the guise of so-called "democracy", posing a serious threat to national security. External forces led by the US have consistently sought to place politics above the law, distorting facts, calling black white and white black, and misleading the public.

The Rule of Law is the bedrock of our Hong Kong society. No one is above the law to engage in illegal activities under the pretext of "freedom of speech and press" and seek to evade legal consequences. The Hong Kong court has delivered a lawful and reasonable verdict based on clear facts and sufficient evidence, fully exposing the defendants' role in endangering national security.

This verdict serves as a strong deterrent to forces that seek to undermine Hong Kong's stability.

The rule of law and national security must be safeguarded. The DAB fully supports the SAR Government in continuing to prosecute offenders who endanger national security, proving that legal cornerstones are unbreachable, ensuring the steadfast and successful implementation of "One Country, Two Systems", and firmly safeguarding Hong Kong's rule of law and stability.
