Challenges and Opportunities

Hong Kong's population aging is accelerating.
Senior citizens and their children in Hong Kong possess substantial consumption potential.
The silver economy spans healthcare, technology, finance, tourism and other sectors, injecting new impetus into the local economy while creating business opportunities and jobs.

To this end, the DAB has established the "Silver Economy Development Alliance" with various sectors of society to facilitate close collaboration among government bodies, enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and community groups, in order to jointly address the challenges and opportunities presented by population aging.

Promote routine texture-modified meal offerings at fast-food chains and coordinate with catering groups/NGOs to host soft-food exhibitions

Anticipated Results

Citizens gain direct benefits from the silver economy, including sustained utilization of their personal capabilities and fixed assets.
Seniors achieve higher-quality retirement lives with enhanced physical/mental wellbeing, reducing burdens on caregivers and the next generation.
Growing elderly populations reshape economies and markets, driving demand for new products/services (food, clothing, housing, transportation) and establishing new elder-friendly standards
