DAB chairperson Starry Lee said that this District Council election will be held during the most difficult period Hong Kong has faced since the Handover. The past 2-3 months have seen violence and rioting throughout many districts of Hong Kong. The majority of residents have felt extremely worried about the situation to the point where some do not even dare leave their homes. At least 21 offices of the DAB have been vandalized and our councillors and service team have constantly been harassed and doxed.
Starry Lee emphasized that the 179 DAB members standing for election will continue to hold firm to their convictions and will not be afraid of any harassment or difficulty. The DAB team will work to defend the districts and serve the people. Finally, she urged the government to take every measure to ensure safety during the election and that it will be held under fair circumstances and allow voters to vote for their choices free from fear or intimidation.
